i think i can officially call myself a movie addict...
if im not watching something, i would be surfing about something and looking at my favourite website -- releaselog-- it tells ppl abt new releases...
anyway, watched diving bell yesterday...
here's the imdb page : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0401383/
and the RT page : http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/diving_bell_and_the_butterfly/
waa.. 94% on RT... i din tink it was THAT good.... although i did like it.. maybe its bcos i din watch it all in one sitting... it was a nice movie though.. my frens tot it was disturbing as well...
it's abt a man who suffered a stroke and got "locked-in syndrome"..
(btw, i tink the most disturbing movies i've ever seen are the horror movies (duh!), house of wax, no country for old men, and gone baby gone... i believe tt i've told alot of ppl that the villian from no country was so scary that i had to pause the movie to take a breather... and as for gone baby gone, u can look at a prev post i made and u will know why)
oh, and i watched this movie called "young people fucking". well, it's a romance comedy with quite a bit of sex..
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0913445/
http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/young_people_fucking/
80% on rottentomatoes, worth a watch. besides, i did enjoy it... quite funny..
anyway, i was looking at the top movies of 2008...
something tt i watched a while back, also din think it was that good to deserve 97%. it was pretty good, but not THAT fantastic..on no. 4..... 97% 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days
there are alot of movies that are supposed to be real good but did not turn out tt way.. just wondering whether it's because of the atmostphere... i always tot tt watching movies at nite is better... snuggle in bed, nice cup of hot coco/chips, darkened room...
anyway, alot of the movies on the top lists are documentaries...maybe i shld try watching them one day... and maybe tt's why i haven't watch most of it yet...
and see! i prove my point... i'm a movie addict... the last few posts have been about movies... i shld really go mug... but now i tink its time for soccer!
and life still goes on...

in the midst of my india electives, i found time to watch a movie. it's called "gone baby gone". not a well known movie, as my frens with me on this trip have not heard of it... but i do rememebr that it's at least an oscar nominee.
anyway, its a very thought provoking show... i wun tell u the story, there's lots of twists and turns.. so i wun spoil it for anyone. but there's alot of violence in the show... violence to innocent ppl... and that wasthe tot-provoking part.. i lay awake till 5am thinking abt all the violence in this world...
recently there've been a bombing in jaipur.. that's one of the touristy places in india where i'll be going in 2 weeks time... it just baffled me... what's the point behind all these killings?
and then i remembered this girl that stanley told me abt when he was studying in the states... she was shot down by a random gang jsut randomly... for no reason at all... wat is this world coming to? i really don't get it...
and then i rememebred that my bf going to go to the states for uni... and it is just so scary knowing that it is just a dangerous place... you just need to be at the wrong place at the wrong time.. and things can get horribly wrong... argh!
WHAT THE HELL IS THIS WORLD COMING TO?

updates.. exams, bdays, monopoly, and all...
heh... haven't been updating for a while... (as usual)
somebody commented to me yesterday tt endless rain doesnt sound tt nice!!! GRRRR... but its ok.. x japan is in a league of their own.. not all worldly beings would be able to appreciate their music. :D
anyway, just finished patho exam on tuesday. and it was one GREAT day. It went really well, much better than any other exams that i have ever taken in my entire medical school career. so i really hope i will score well. i am really amazed and proud of myself. and i have to thank someone who helped me get thru the mugging, and somehow managed to get me to study 7hrs a day and accomplished the almost-impossible. :P
Well, viva list will be out on monday, and i'll know whether i have passed then. I'm 99.99999999999999% sure that i will pass la. but as i always say, anything is possible. However, I think i have a bigger chance of going to the distinction vivas than the pass/fail vivas. haha!
Yesterday (30th jan), was a really busy day. First, i woke up to watch the office (ok, not so busy). then i had to find a dvd that i promised to pass to ernest by yesterday. that took a long time... i wanted to go out shopping, go borders get a travel guide (40% off now), and go popular (orchard branch having a closing down sale). However, all that was not accomplished. :(
Anyway, i skipped all the shopping and went for yoga classes at Pure Yoga. It is one damn atas yoga place... from the front desk to the studios to the toilets to even serving really nice tea while they talk to u at their comfy couches in the common area.. i enjoyed my lessons, though the instructor had an accent which was hard to catch. am aching today, which means the exercise was good! heh... but classes are much smaller than the pilates lessons i've been taking in school. but i bet the cost is like 10 times more la.. i have 2 more free lessons effective till next tues! hmm.. wonder wat i will take...
after that, met up with ernest and nicholas (who came back fr OZ and am flying off today). had a 1/2hr meetup with him, and a treat from coffee club express.. haha... so paiseh.. i was so late too... cos of some delay at the yoga studio side... :P
then we went off to Prof Koh's house for a celebratory dinner for having on some prize at a scientific congress... dinner was good! haha... but a little spicy though. the dessert was nice too. there were some serious discussions going on between us and the profs/doctors...and they were appalled at how the medical interviews still did not manage to sift out the wierdos from entering medicine... not that we are discriminating, but experience have told them that if you cannot even relate to your own classmates, you prob cannot do the same to other human beings, much less your patients. and they did have some personal encounters for which classmates were only discovered at housemanship level to be unsuitable for the medicine field.. and then ernest proceeded to tell them about how ppl cheated in reports... Dr Koh was so disappointed... but i commented that no matter how hard you try, there will be these ppl ard, and you just have to believe that watever you do, you are really benefiting the people who are genuinely interested, and to just have faith... :)
ok, dinner went on till 11pm... tt late... afterthat, we adjourn to ernest's house to continue the party! they had a surprise bday party for me, which i was already told bat in the afternoon (cos ernest had the idea tt i may not like surprises) and YES! MY BDAY IS THIS COMING SUNDAY, 3RD FEB!!
anyway, we went to the kitchen to get drinks, when somebody opened the fridge and suddenly changed the topic. at that point in time, i knew tt i shld be automatic and dismiss myself. stanley promptly followed me and asked me to go get the boardgames that we wanted to play... ernest, showed us the way, and i assumed tt jeremy was left to settle the candles and cake... (there's jsut the 4 of us) after getting the board games, we got downstairs and the surprised me with the cake.. i was genuinely surprised, cos i din know when they gonna take it out... haha...and i must say they work really well together... (aftertt, i found out tt jeremy din even know abt the surprise party)
the cake was nice, some fruity cake from bengawan solo... i still have 1/3 of it in my fridge.. yummy!
we played monopoly till 2am... it was really fun... i was losing at first... kept going to jail and thus, had no chance to buy land. and then stanley got desperate and made a bad trade with me.. he was unsure with some of the rules, which resulted in that trade... (i gave him an orange lot for parklane and TWO train stations!) haha! i snapped it up immediately. aftertt, the luck and money just kept rolling in.. i ended up building 8 houses la... wahah! i subsequesntly made other trades, and ended up with 4 train stations and the green row.. and i had deals with the others such that i only have to pay the site rent for certain lots... so in the end, the ones that i really have to pay big money for was for some of the lousier coloured rows.. i won the game with $8000++ haha! damn shiok! haven't played board games for a really long time...
so in summary, it was a really good day...
1. had yoga lesson
2. met nicholas
3. had a good dinner
4. ppl planned a surprise party for me
5. played monopoly and WON!
lol...
and i'm goddamn tired today... slept the whole day la! if not i would have gone orchard to finished those unfinished business... :)
will followup with photos soon!
and life still goes on...

In March 2007, Toshi announced on his website that he and Yoshiki had recently resumed working together, stating that a "new project" would start soon.[29] A reunion was officially confirmed on June 4, 2007, with Yoshiki announcing a tour, as well as a new single (a re-recording of the song "Without You", originally from Yoshiki's 2005 solo album Eternal Melody II) to be underway and that he was in talks with Heath and Pata, regarding their participation. About ten, still undisclosed guitarists are to fill in for the late Hide during concerts.[7] The band had its first live performance on October 22, 2007, on the rooftop of the shopping center called Aqua City in Odaiba, Tokyo. During this performance, a music video for the song "I.V." was filmed. The new song, published through Extasy Music and 901 Highland Music, is the main theme for the movie Saw 4 [30]. It is written by Yoshiki and recorded with all living X Japan members of the pre-breakup lineup. It also uses previously unreleased guitar tracks by Hide.[8][9] Later this year, the group is reportedly going to perform on the December 31 broadcast of Kōhaku Uta Gassen.[31][32] Yoshiki announced that X Japan will also perform a concert in Tokyo in the Spring of 2008. According to some sources an album was also announced at the Odaiba event, no album schedule has been announced yet. [33]omg... i totally din see this paragraph yesterday..

Visual Kei emerged in the late 1980s, pioneered by the band X Japan. [5], By 1999, mainstream popularity in Visual Kei was declining, X Japan had disbanded, and the death of lead guitarist Hideto Matsumoto in 1998 had denied fans a possible reunion. It wasn't long before Luna Sea decided to disband in the year 2000, and L'Arc-en-Ciel went on a hiatus the same year.[20] In 2007 the genre has been revitalized, as Luna sea announced they would perform a one-off performance, and X Japan announced they would reunite. With these developments, Visual kei bands enjoyed a boost in public awareness, described by the media as "Neo-Visual Kei". [21].[20]
and some excerpts abt hide and x japan...
along with others such as D'erlanger and Color, who are regarded
as influencing the fashion and music associated with Visual Kei bands.[20] X
Japan's drummer Yoshiki Hayashi
used the term to describe the band's slogan "Psychedelic Violence Crime of
Visual Shock".
